The old Cliff Baths can be found at the end of the promenade along the beach.
The old Cliff Baths can be found at the end of the promenade along the beach, it was built on the rocks in 1850 by one of the Orme family, a local landlord. Not long after it was built it was badly damaged in a hurricane.
At the rear of the Cliff Baths there is a large hollowed out hole in the rock that always holds fresh seawater, which is filled by the tide. I was told it used to be called the “The Baby Rock” as mothers of the village used to use it to bathe their young Children. Today it is called the “Crab Pool”, were children gets hours of enjoyment trying to catch crabs, which got trapped in the rock when the tide went out.
